Stonebridge Manor
Chapter 25
CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE
All the staff had eaten, and with the exception of Tom who was just checking doors and windows before he too left, they had all gone to their homes or rooms.
Phillip was already on the phone talking to Natalie.
“ Did you have a good day?”
“Oh yes, I loved the Tower and the bridge. I even got a photo with one of those beefeater guys.”
“That’s great, so you got to see the Crown Jewels?”
“Yes, and the cottage they let one of Henry VIII’s wives stay at before she was beheaded.”
“I think that was Anne Boleyn, but I’m not sure.”
“Ken told me who it was but he tells me so much, I forget most of it.”
“I’m the same way, it goes in one ear and flies out the
other.”
“I wish you’d been with us.”
“I do too but I do have some good news.”
“What’s that?”
“I’ll be seeing you tomorrow.”
“Are you coming to London? What’s happened?”
“Lord B told me to rearrange the helicopter, so you must have Ken get you to the heliport by 1pm. Once you get back to Crompton Hall, the helicopter will fly down for us.
“Okay, I think he’s taking me to a market in the morning. So why are you leaving early?”
“That must be Portobello market. His Lordship must be telling her he’s leaving, so there’s no reason to stay on.”
“What do you think will happen when she finds out?”
“I don’t know, I really don’t.”
“You have no idea?”
“Not really. She’ll either raise the roof I suppose, or take it out on the staff.”
“Be careful then.”
“Oh, I’ll be okay. I’m leaving with him so I should escape most of it.”
“Well, make sure you do. So what’s been happening there today?”
Phillip told her of the day at Stonebridge and found out more about her day in London before they both called it a night. They said they loved each other, and looked forward to Sunday afternoon and meeting up again.
